Picture this: a Brazilian girl in her late teens, driven by a mixture of confusion and youthful hormones, moving countries in search of new adventures, with little to no idea of what she was doing. Yep, that’s me! That blend of confusion and curiosity led me into a journey of self-discovery that took me far from the comforts of my homeland to the sights, sounds and languages of other cultures. 

London was my first stop and my home sweet home for many years. As soon as I arrived, I was immediately struck by this crazy web of languages, accents, noises and cultures. It was like a real-life tongue twister and I found that fascinating!

I then embarked on an academic journey that led to a degree in Applied Translation, fuelling my passion for languages and setting a strong foundation for my teaching career.

After so many years of rainy England, I found myself drawn to the sunny lifestyle of Spain. It was here, quite unexpectedly, that teaching came into my life and Lingua Blend began to take shape, though I wasn’t aware of it at the time. From informally teaching friends and acquaintances to working in programmes – some as a volunteer – and completing teacher training courses, I had the chance not only to shape my vocation and career but mainly to connect with people from different walks of life.

Throughout this process of language learning and teaching, two things have always remained constant: the connections I’ve made and the worlds I’ve discovered along the way. For me, the whole point lies in the genuine exchange that emerges, bringing new perspectives on ways of thinking, learning, living, interpreting the world as well as time and space.

So, when you venture into your language learning journey, remember that every word learned and every conversation had open up new dimensions of the world. That’s what languages have done for me. Hope they do the same for you too.
